Overview

For this project, I was tasked with designing premium and free landing page templates for Sizemug’s productivity platform. These templates, optimised for mobile, desktop, and tablet, will be available for users to download and customise, helping them streamline their workflow and enhance productivity. The goal was to create visually appealing, user-friendly, and efficient designs that align with Sizemug’s mission to make work more organised and engaging.

Introduction

Sizemug is a productivity and product management platform designed to empower users to stay efficient and unlock their full potential. With the belief that "work doesn't have to be boring," Sizemug helps users keep their important tasks organised, providing motivation even on days when productivity feels out of reach. Built on core values of boosting productivity, simplicity, and user-friendliness, Sizemug offers multiple ways for users to organise their work, making it a versatile and efficient solution for everyone.

Intentions for Project

  1. Enhance User Productivity – Design landing page templates that help users stay organised, motivated, and efficient in managing their tasks.

  2. Provide Versatile Solutions – Create premium and free templates across various categories such as education, fitness, motivation, personal finance, and infographics, catering to different user needs.

  3. Ensure Seamless Accessibility – Develop templates optimised for mobile, desktop, and tablet, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience across all devices.

Problem Statement

Many professionals struggle with productivity and motivation due to overwhelming workloads and disorganised tasks. Traditional tools lack personalisation, making it hard to tailor workflows. Sizemug addresses this by offering an engaging platform with organised task management. To boost engagement further, Sizemug is developing a range of mobile optimised landing page templates, providing users with visually appealing, functional layouts for a seamless experience across devices.

Hypothesis

Providing well-designed, category-specific landing page templates for productivity needs like education, fitness, motivation, personal finance, and infographics will help users stay organised and efficient. By offering both premium and free, mobile-optimised templates across devices, Sizemug ensures a seamless experience for a wide range of users. In this project, I will showcase my top three designs, illustrating how these templates can enhance productivity, engagement, and ease of use.

Design Process

For this project, I used the Double Diamond Method as it is the most effective and appropriate method for this case study.

Stage 1: Discover

Ideas

Competitor Analysis

In my research, I identified four main competitors: Notion, Asana, Monday, and Trello, each offering productivity and project management solutions for different user needs.

Strengths: Most competitors provide engaging interfaces, clear calls to action, and ready made templates to enhance user experience. Features like chat support, quick navigation, and AI-powered organisation improve usability.

Weaknesses: Some platforms have overwhelming interfaces with too many options, while others limit free features, offering advanced tools only through paid plans. Slow loading times, poor accessibility, and restricted reporting tools were also noted.

Sizemug aims to differentiate itself by balancing simplicity and functionality, offering a user-friendly experience with free and premium landing page templates for various needs such as education, fitness, motivation, personal finance, and infographics.

Survey

My survey revealed that users aged 25-34 struggled most with task organisation, time management, and staying motivated. It also highlighted a strong preference for a free, user-friendly, and intuitive platform to enhance productivity.

User Journey Map

I created a user journey map to better understand the users experience navigating a productivity platform.

Stage 2: Define

User Persona

I needed to visualise and better understand the users so I created a user persona to do this.

User Stories

By mapping out these user stories, I could prioritise features that enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and reduce stress. This approach ensures that the platform aligns with real user expectations, delivering an intuitive and effective experience.

HMW

To identify opportunities for improvement, I created "How Might We" (HMW) statements to explore ways to enhance user experience, productivity, and accessibility. These helped pinpoint key design challenges.

The top three HMW statements were:

  1. How might we simplify finding done-for-you templates for new users?

  2. How might we integrate colour psychology to improve focus, motivation, and productivity?

  3. How might we ensure templates are accessible across all devices?

Stage 3: Develop

Mind Map

To establish a clear framework for the template designs, I developed a mind map to explore various design elements, user needs, and functionality requirements.

User Flow

I created a user flow on Milanote to visually map how users navigate the app, ensuring a seamless experience from login to support by outlining key steps.

UI Mood Board

I created a UI mood board on Milanote to collect ideas and set a visual direction for the design phase. This helped clarify the template's aesthetics, including colour palettes, typography, and UI elements, ensuring a harmonious user experience. The mood board was key for aligning design choices with user needs, enhancing team collaboration, and streamlining the creative process before moving to high-fidelity designs.

Final Designs

For the final designs, I created over 30 templates across three screen sizes. I selected the top three: a clean portfolio template, a self-improvement template, and a personal growth template - each designed to enhance user experience and functionality.

Final Thoughts

Working at Sizemug and creating these templates was a valuable experience. It helped refine my design approach, focus on user needs, and develop visually appealing yet practical templates. This process strengthened my ability to create cohesive, user-friendly designs that align with the platform’s goals.
